Space:

Space is not an element of design. However, it does occur through the use of line, shape, color, texture, and lighting. It should therefore be understood that space enhances the design element. In relation to the body, space, is the natural or unnatural area in which the body and the environment interact.
Notice the model in blue. There is a visual relationship between her body and the space it occupies in the dress. Her body, no mater how small, represents filled space.

Space:

Space is the backdrop for the existence of all design elements. In the environment, the proximity of object to object, body to body, and object to body directly relates how space is perceived and defined.
It is quiet apparent that the proximity of the two skyscrapers is greater than the proximity of the theater seats. However, the buildings appear to almost kiss, while the theater appears desolate. Perceived distance within the environment influences how we define space.
