Space:

Space is the backdrop for the existence of all design elements. In the environment, the proximity of object to object, body to body, and object to body directly relates how space is perceived and defined.
It is quiet apparent that the proximity of the two skyscrapers is greater than the proximity of the theater seats. However, the buildings appear to almost kiss, while the theater appears desolate. Perceived distance within the environment influences how we define space.
